Cuarteto Ciudad Vieja
Cuarteto Ciudad Vieja is an Uruguayan instrumental music group.
It was formed in 2002, and in 2004 the band produced its first CD, “Rioplata”, guest singer Gabriela Morgare.
They have just recorded their new CD, Sampler, with the Andalusian label “Dog”: an instrumental repertoire guest percussionist Jorge Trasantewhich.
This album has been nominated for the Premios Grafitti,
Their peculiar sound is unusual in popular music styles.
The band’s members are experienced musicians, several of them are members of official national orchestras. They bring their experience into popular music, having recorded and performed with important national and foreign musicians.
The repertoire orbits around Tango, Milonga, and other folk-rooted genres as well as propose own compositions and special arrangements of some famous songs.
