Joaju

Joaju is considered an emblematic group of Paraguayan jazz and popular instrumental music.
Joaju expresses the avant-garde of the intense jazz scene in Paraguay, linking this genre with popular instrumental music.
They released two albums “Jazz de Acá”, 2011 and “Ahoraite”,2018.
Both albums got excellent reviews in Spain, Argentina, and the US.
They have been nominated as Best Instrumental Jazz Album 2019 at the Independent Music Awards.
Formed of renowned and virtuous musicians from Asunción, led by Victor Morel on drums, Giovanni Primerano on piano, Bruno Muñoz on saxophones, and Miguel Antar on double bass, Joaju draws on the roots of the Paraguayan tradition and jazz, to create a space where diverse styles and intensities overlap, dragging the listener into the unpredictable.
With “Ahoraite” the quartet consolidates its own identity showing a mixture of softness, sensitivity, and strength.
They have been participating in important stages in their country as well as internationally.
